The first part deals with the life of Tobias, also called Tobit. Among other figures, Willy Wiedmann has portrayed the story of Sarah, whose seven bridegrooms all died on their wedding nights because she was beloved by a demon. Sarah later marries the son of Tobias, who shares his name, and thanks to the archangel Gabriel the fate of both families takes a turn for the better. The book of Judith portrays the salvation of Israel through a widow of the same name, who beheads General Holofernes. The last book, as well, deals with Israel being saved by a woman during the Babylonian exile. The right hand of the Persian king Haman wanted to have all the Jewish people within his kingdom murdered on the same day. Queen Esther was able to avert the danger.
