He that touches pitch will be defiled, and he that has fellowship with a proud man will become like to him.
Have no fellowship with the rich and mighty; it is difficult for you. If an earthen pot and an iron kettle strike against one another, the first will be dashed in pieces.
Many rich people do evil to the poor, and must excuse themselves for it. If you are useful, the rich man will keep you. If you are not, he will forsake you. He will empty out your purse, as long as you have anything left. If he needs you, he will deceive you skillfully. He will invite you to his house only to take back threefold what he has given later.
He will see your need, but will shake his head at you. Therefore be not simple-minded so that you do not suffer any calamity.
