(contemplation by David when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul: “David has come to Ahimelech's house)
Why do you boast of mischief,
mighty man?
What do you continuously boast about before the pious?
You, weaver of intrigue, always plotting destruction.
Your tongue is like a sharp razor.
You love evil more than good,
lying more than speaking the truth.
You love all devouring words,
you deceitful tongues.
Therefore God will pluck you out,
root you out of the land of the living.
Behold, he has trusted in riches and wickedness,
and has not taken refuge in God.
But I am like a green olive tree
in God's house.
I thank you, Lord, for you have done it.
