And David spoke to the Lord. The Lord said, “Bloodguilt lies on Saul and his house, because he killed the Gibeonites.” The king asked the Gibeonites, “What should I do to make atonement?” They wanted seven members of the house of Saul. They answered him, ”We will hang them on the mountain before the Lord.” Saul granted this, he spared Mephibosheth, son of Jonathan, because of his oath. And he gave the sons of Rizpah and the five sons of Merab, and delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites. They hanged them on the mountain on the first days of barley harvest.
