Si 12 – Be careful when doing good

If you do good, then know to whom you do it, and your good deeds will have thanks. Do good to a godly man. Do no good to him who continues to do evil, nor to him that gives no alms. Give to the godly man, to the lowly man, and not to the godless man. Otherwise you will receive back twice as much evil for the good you will have done him. For God is also an enemy of sinners.
