Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. If the Lord does not watch over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early and to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for the Lord gives sleep to his loved ones. Children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. Happy is the man who has a quiver full of them – they will not be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate. Blessed is the man who fears the Lord. For you will eat the labor of your hands and you will be happy. Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house. Your children like young olive plants around your table. Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears and honors the Lord. May the Lord bless you out of Zion all of your life. May you see your children's children. Peace be upon all.
