God, we have heard what work you did in the days of old. You drove out the pagans with your hand. It was you, my king and my God, who commanded victories for Jacob. Through your name, we will tread them under who rise up against us. But you have made the nations shake their head over us, reproaching us. Yet we have not been false to your covenant. But you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, we are killed all day long, and we are regarded as sheep for the slaughter. Wake up, Lord – help us for your loving kindness' sake.
