When the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to test him with hard questions. She came to Jerusalem with a very great caravan, with camels carrying spices, very much gold, and precious stones. And she spoke with Solomon about all that was in her heart. But when she saw the wisdom of Solomon, the house, the food, the attendance of his servants, the seating of his officials, their clothing, his cup bearers, and the burnt offering, she was astonished and there was no more spirit in her and she said to the king, “Not even half was told to me of all that I see! Happy are your men and your servants, who continually hear your wisdom. Blessed be the Lord, your God! Because the Lord loves Israel, the Lord has made you their king.” And she gave him one hundred twenty talents of gold, spices, and precious stones. Never again was there such abundance of spices as the queen of Sheba gave to Solomon. The ships of Hiram also brought much sandalwood and precious stones. Solomon made pillars, harps and stringed instruments for the singers. And Solomon gave to the queen whatever she desired and asked for. Then she turned and went to her own country with her caravan.
