Better to be poor and fresh and healthy than rich and sick. There are no riches which may be compared to a healthy body. Better to be dead than to have a bitter life and constant sickness. A good dish before a mouth which cannot eat is like placing food on a grave. What does an offering profit an idol, since he can neither see it nor smell it? He who is afflicted of the Lord sees with his eyes, but groans like an eunuch who is holding a virgin in his arms.
