The dead say in their hearts: “There is no God” they are corrupt; they have done disdainful deeds. They are all spoiled and abominable. They eat the bread of the Lord, but they do not call on his name. When the Lord restores the fortunes of his people, then Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. He who walks blamelessly and does what is right, and speaks truth in his heart, who does not slander with his tongue, nor does evil to his friend, nor casts slurs against his fellow man, who respects those who have been rejected, who fear the Lord, who keeps an oath, who does not break a promise, who does not lend out his money for usury, nor takes a bribe against the innocent – he who does these things shall never be shaken.
