Water and bread, clothing and shelter are the first things man needs most urgently. Better to be poor in a hut than have a sumptuous table in another man's house. It is a miserable life to go from house to house. Therefore, be satisfied with what you have, whether it is little or much. For where you are a sojourner, you cannot dare to open your mouth. You will remain a foreigner and you will have to choke down bitter words. They will say: “Go, sojourner, I have found a better guest.” This is difficult for a man of understanding: to be scolded for remaining or to be reproached as a believer.
