Modern exegetes have expressed varying opinions (J. Zink, M. Ruber), but have been generally unable to alter the Psalter. Its content is too strongly rooted in the sung word to be able to ignore the chords. The Old Testament contains further songs beyond the Psalter, including: the Song of Moses, Ex. 15 / the Song of Deborah = Judges 5 / King Hezekiah's Song of Praise, Isaiah 38:10-20 / The painted psalms are arranged according to the five books (in Pentateuchal order). The series of geometric shapes are intended to generate a sound which can be converted into musical notation according to a color scheme; Care has also been taken with regards to rhythm, in the sense of an augmentation or diminution of shapes.
